Memory Not as Good as It Used to Be? Use Your Smartphone Camera to Bridge the Gap!
  • baby boomers
  • how-to

Taking pictures of everyday situations can aid a failing memory.

Everyone knows the camera in your smartphone is handy for snapping selfies and pictures of your latest culinary masterpiece, but having a camera on you 24/7 has practical uses, too.

Why not use that smartphone to help you remember things to make life a bit easier?

How about you? Do you have a few pictures on your phone you used to make things a little easier to remember?

Here are some of the things we’ve taken pictures of to supplement a fading memory:

1 – Parking lot at airport; to remember where the car is parked after a long trip (or a short one).

2 – Paint lid; to remember which room was painted and capture the details when needing touch up paint.

3 – Model numbers and serial numbers; to prevent the painful pulling out of the refridgerator when it’s in need of repair.

4 – Product information; to capture the dimensions of the vanity before bringing it home and discovering it doesn’t fit.

5 – Recipe ingredient list; to review when at the grocery store and when in too much of a hurry to make a list.

6 – Wine labels; when you’re so intoxicated by that great bottle of wine there’s no way you’ll remember it the next day.

7 – Restaurant menu; so you can enlarge small print in a dimly lit restaurant.

8 – Driving directions; to ensure you have directions handy even if you don’t have cell service.

9 – Article from a magazine; to prevent mutilating that magazine in the doctors office.

10 – Trail map; to capture trail details you can reference along the trail.

These are just a few ways that we’ve been using our smartphone to supplement our memory. How about you? Did it spark some ideas? Let us know in the comments!
