Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed the measure Thursday night to temporarily roll back the 6.25 percent sales tax for one weekend in August. The reprieve should last from Aug. 15th to 16th, customers will be able to buy many consumer products tax free that weekend.

The exemption does not, however, extend to some tobacco products, motorboats, motor vehicles, meals, or items that cost more than $2,500.

The summer sales tax holiday has become something of an annual tradition since 2004 when Massachusetts launched its tax-free summer weekend. The only year the holiday did not occur was 2009, while the state of Massachusetts was struggling to raise revenue during the throes of the Great Recession.

According to The Boston Globe, consumers saved $24.6 million in collective taxes during the tax holiday weekend last year.
